The Palme d’Or Champagne Ball – Chopard

A MID SUMMER CELEBRATION OF THE CANNES INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Summer’s most spectacular event happened on Saturday 29th June at the dreamy Palazzo Parisio. The Palme d’Or Champagne Ball was hosted by Edwards Lowell and Chopard inviting their most esteemed clients for an experience like no other, with official partners M.Demajo Wines and Spirits and Veuve Cliquot. The event was a celebration of the Cannes Film Festival, where guests were given A-list treatment all night, starting off with a walk down the red carpet whilst being snapped by awaiting paparazzi.

 

The Palme d’Or (Golden Palm in English) is the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival, and widely considered the most prestigious prize in the film industry. For one night only, the actual 24-carat gold Palme d’Or left its home in the South of France, and was on display at the event in Malta for each guest to lay their eyes on the prize!

Someday Campaign featuring one of Rolex’s official photographers and Malta’s photography legend – Kurt Arrigo

Born in Malta, Kurt spent his childhood sailing, windsurfing and scuba-diving in the Mediterranean Sea, sparking his love for the ocean and photography. Today, he is regarded in a league of his own as a photographer, both on the island and around the globe. He has always been inspired by the sea and his work reflects that, from breathtaking snaps of the underwater world to photos of powerful yachts racing through the seas, Kurt has captured it all.

 

 

Since 2004, he has been the official Rolex yachting photographer, following the numerous international events sponsored by the brand including the Sydney Hobart, Rolex Fastnet Race and Rolex Middle Sea Race which proudly takes place in Malta. “Malta played a big part in my career, simply because Malta has so much to offer.” Throughout his career, he has produced three publications based around his love for his home, Malta: A Coastal Journey 2005, Grand Harbour Malta 2011 and Malta Maritime 2014 each capturing the beauty of the archipelago seeped in seafaring history.

The opening of the ‘Green Room’  Gallery – The new art & design gallery in the heart of Valletta

At the Rolex Boutique in Republic Street Valletta, there is a stairwell that leads to a hidden space away from the hustle and bustle of the city, aptly named the ‘Green Room’ gallery. The name ‘Green Room’ is historically associated with showbiz, most commonly given to a backstage area where the talented performers wait before they go on stage. Synonymous with Rolex, the colour green permeates throughout the identity of the brand, an iconic shade that is instantly associated with the world’s most famous luxury watches. The ‘Green Room’ gallery will be a hidden gem in the heart of the city, exhibiting some of the most exceptional local and international art and design.

 

 

Guests were invited to view the debut exhibition at the gallery, showcased by Kurt Arrigo, internationally-acclaimed Maltese photographer. Mr. Arrigo and Edwards Lowell have worked together for many years and since 2004, he has been an official Rolex yachting photographer, covering every race around the globe, including Malta’s very own Rolex Middlesea Race.

The Collection is a special selection of 10 pieces celebrating the underwater world, a subject significantly close to Kurt in both his career and personal life. With this series, he wants to bring awareness to the environment, specifically a reminder of the fundamental role our seas and oceans play. Human’s impact on nature has become something Kurt feels evermore strongly about, driving him to seek its untouched beauty in remote places. From Malta to Tonga, Kurt has explored the world’s seas and oceans to capture these magnificent and rare images.

The Rolex Middle Sea Race 2019 start of race event – 40th Edition

Basking in the glow of the Mediterranean morning sun, guests of Edwards Lowell gathered at the remarkable Fort St Angelo in Birgu for one of the biggest events of the Maltese annual calendar – The start of the Rolex Middle Sea Race

This year marked a momentous year as the 40^th edition of the race. Each year, the course begins as the boats depart from the Maltese islands and sail around Sicily including Lampedusa, Pantelleria, the Aegadian and Eolian islands finally making their way back to Malta in the hopes to make it in the quickest time. The voyage is a true feat of nautical skill, and not for the faint of heart! The boats must navigate through sometimes turbulent conditions, elevating the reward of taking part in this prestigious race.

 

 

In honour of the 40^th milestone, Edwards Lowell invited their most esteemed clients to enjoy panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and the surrounding cities. Once a strategic watchpoint, the fortress was transformed for guests to have the best view of the competing boats leaving the harbour. Fort St Angelo was built by the Knights of St. John over the ruins of a castle dating back to 12^th century Norman times and has been used as a military vantage point throughout history, including the Great Siege of 1565. It is until only recently in 2016, that the site has been open to the public since its restoration.

The Edwards Lowell Concept Store in Portomaso

Edwards Lowell hosted the official opening party for their brand-new Concept Store located in one of Malta’s most luxurious postcodes, Portomaso Marina. With a legacy dating back almost 100 years, Edwards Lowell is a company that takes pride in preserving their heritage, which has kept loyal customers coming back over generations.
