Rolex Certified Pre-Owned watches at Edwards Lowell

Edwards Lowell is the Official Rolex Retailer in Malta, authorised by Rolex to sell Rolex Certified Pre-Owned watches. Every watch in this selection has been authenticated by Rolex, carries the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned seal and is covered by a two-year international guarantee. Whether you are looking for a pre-owned Rolex in Malta, a used Rolex as a first purchase, or a particular reference to complete a collection, the selection can be seen at our Rolex Certified Pre-Owned showroom on Zachary Street in Valletta, and our team can advise you before you travel.

Buying a second hand Rolex in Malta

A search for a second hand Rolex in Malta turns up two very different things: watches sold privately and as seen, and watches that have been through Rolex's own certification. Everything on this page is the second kind.

Each one was bought in, opened and inspected, then recertified by Rolex before it went back on sale. That is the difference between buying a used Rolex and buying a guaranteed one, and it is why every watch here carries a two-year international guarantee from the day you buy it.

Rolex prices in Malta

Every watch in this selection is priced, so you can compare Rolex prices in Malta without having to ask.

New Rolex prices are set by Rolex, so a new watch costs the same wherever you buy it. Certified Pre-Owned is different: each watch is priced on its own, according to its size, its metal, its bezel and the year it was made. That is why two Rolex watches that look alike can sit some way apart on this page.

Prices are shown in euro and include VAT. We ship across the European Union, and our team at the watch shop on Zachary Street in Valletta can talk you through any watch before you buy.

Buying from outside Malta

Edwards Lowell is an Official Rolex Retailer inside the European Union, and we deliver Certified Pre-Owned Rolex watches to all 27 member states. Prices are shown in euro and include VAT.

Every watch carries the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned seal and a two-year international guarantee, honoured by Official Rolex Retailers and Rolex Service Centres worldwide rather than in Malta alone. Buying from an Official Rolex Retailer is the difference between a watch Rolex stands behind and one sold on the open market.

Rolex watch materials and terminology

Rolex gives its own names to the materials, bracelets and clasps fitted to its watches. Knowing them makes it far easier to compare two pre-owned references and understand what separates them.

Materials Rolex makes itself

  • Oystersteel, Rolex's own 904L-family steel, chosen for how it resists salt water and holds a polish. It is the steel of the Professional models, so most pre-owned Submariners and GMT-Master IIs you will see are Oystersteel.
  • Everose gold, the 18 ct pink gold Rolex casts in its own foundry. A trace of platinum in the alloy stops the pink fading, which is why an Everose watch from 2013 still looks like one made this year.
  • Cerachrom, the ceramic Rolex developed for bezel inserts. It will not scratch in normal wear and will not fade in sunlight, which counts for more in Malta than it does in most markets.
  • Chromalight, the luminescent compound on modern dials and hands. It reads blue rather than green, and stays legible for around eight hours, roughly double what it replaced.
  • Rolesor, Rolex's combination of gold and Oystersteel on a single watch, a signature of the Datejust since the 1930s.

Rolex bracelets

  • Oyster, a flat three-piece link bracelet built for robustness, and the default on most Professional models.
  • Jubilee, a supple five-piece link bracelet designed in 1945 for the Datejust and still most closely associated with it.
  • President, the semi-circular three-piece link bracelet created for the Day-Date and reserved for Rolex watches in precious metal.
  • Pearlmaster, a rounded five-piece link bracelet in gold, frequently gem-set, fitted to the Pearlmaster and to some Lady-Datejust models.
  • Oysterflex, an elastomer bracelet over a flexible metal blade, found on the Cosmograph Daytona and Yacht-Master.

Rolex clasps

  • Oysterclasp, the folding safety clasp used across Oyster and Jubilee bracelets.
  • Oysterlock, a reinforced Oysterclasp with an additional safety catch, standard on the Professional models.
  • Crownclasp, a concealed clasp hidden beneath the bracelet links, used on President and Jubilee bracelets in precious metal.

Rolex models in our Certified Pre-Owned selection

  • Air-King, Rolex's tribute to aviation, with a dial unlike anything else in the catalogue.
  • Cellini, Rolex's classical dress collection, made in precious metal.
  • Cosmograph Daytona, Rolex's chronograph, built for motor racing and among the most sought-after watches on the pre-owned market.
  • Datejust, The most versatile watch Rolex makes, and the one offering the widest choice of dials, bezels and bracelets on the pre-owned market.
  • Day-Date, The only Rolex that spells the weekday out in full, and the only one made exclusively in gold or platinum. Collectors call it the President.
  • Explorer II, Built for cavers and polar explorers who cannot tell day from night. The extra hand reads against a bezel that does not turn.
  • GMT-Master II, Made for airline crews in the 1950s and still the Rolex to own if you track two time zones at once.
  • Lady-Datejust, The Datejust in a 28 mm case, the classic Rolex for a smaller wrist.
  • Milgauss, Made for scientists working near strong magnetic fields. A soft iron shield holds off up to 1,000 gauss, and the seconds hand is shaped like a lightning bolt.
  • Oyster Perpetual, The Oyster in its purest form, with no date and no complication.
  • Pearlmaster, A jewelled interpretation of the Datejust, usually gem-set and on its own bracelet.
  • Sky-Dweller, An annual calendar and second time zone, operated through the Ring Command bezel.
  • Submariner, Waterproof to 300 metres, with a bezel that turns one way only so a diver can never overstate the air left in the tank.
