About the Rolex Pearlmaster
The Pearlmaster is the Datejust reinterpreted as jewellery. It was introduced in 1992, made only in precious metal, and fitted with a bracelet designed for it: rounded five-piece links that sit closer to a bangle than to an Oyster.
Rolex has since retired the line, so the Pearlmaster exists only on the pre-owned market. It is the most decorative watch the brand has made in modern times.
What to look for in a pre-owned Pearlmaster
Metal and stones
Yellow, white and Everose gold, very often with a diamond-set bezel and frequently with gem-set dials and lugs. The stones are set by Rolex, not aftermarket.
Size
Made in 29, 34 and 39 mm. The smaller sizes read as jewellery, the 39 mm as a watch.
Bracelet
The Pearlmaster bracelet is unique to this family and is a large part of what you are buying. It wears quite differently from any other Rolex bracelet.
Pearlmaster prices in Malta
Pearlmaster prices are driven by the gem setting as much as by the gold, so the spread between two watches of the same size can be wide. Rolex certification confirms that the stones are factory-set, which is the question that matters most on a watch like this.
