Chopard: The Winner Takes The Watch

We’re so proud to announce that the overall winner of this year’s Mdina Grand Prix will receive a Chopard Mille Miglia 2014. We’re thrilled to be sponsoring this event.
Originally the brainchild of French entrepreneur and classic car enthusiast Thierry Giovannini, Malta’s Classic Car Grand Prix has evolved into a weekend-long classic car tournament held on the outskirts of the ‘silent city’.
Known now as the Mdina Grand Prix, the event has become one of Europe’s most highly anticipated classic car tournaments, which attracts classic car racers and enthusiasts from all over the world.
This year’s Mdina Grand Prix will feature the return of the Hill Climb in Mellieha on Thursday 9 October, the Mdina Glass Concours d’Elegance on Friday 10, the Practice and Qualifying on the Saturday 11 and the Race on Sunday 12.
ONE OF THE CLASSIC CARS AT LAST YEAR’S RACE
“The Mdina Grand Prix has become a fixture in the national calendar and an incredible opportunity for the island to showcase some of its most breath-taking spots,” says Mr Malcolm Lowell, the managing director at Edwards, Lowell Co Ltd.
“Reminiscent of Italy’s iconic Mille Miglia, during which racers go from Brescia to Rome and back, the Mdina Grand Prix is an event of great calibre, and this was the reason why Edwards, Lowell Co Ltd, along with Chopard, thought it would be fitting to award the Chopard Mille Miglia 2014 to the race’s overall winner,” Mr Lowell continues.
The Chopard Mille Miglia 2014 is part of a series of watches the Swiss-based luxury watch, jewellery and accessories company has been creating since 1988, when it became the tournament’s official timekeeper and watchmaker.
“This is the second time Edwards, Lowell Co Ltd has partnered up with Mdina Grand Prix, and we’re exceedingly happy to continue building this relationship between the tournament and Chopard.” Mr Lowell adds.
We will be present at the Hospitality Area, where a VIP section for the organisers, selected clients and other VIPs is being set up. Meanwhile, the Paddock Area is being reopened to the general public, and the Practice, Qualifying and Race portions of the event can be viewed from here.
