Edwards Lowell opens Patek Philippe Cartier Boutique in Republic Street

The Edwards Lowell Patek Philippe Cartier Boutique

Edwards Lowell has opened the doors to the Patek Philippe Cartier Boutique in Republic Street in late September, bringing the number of retail outlets operated by Edwards Lowell to five.

The luxury watch outlet is a collaboration between Patek Philippe, which has been part of the Edwards Lowell portfolio for over 40 years, and Cartier, which is a recent addition to their portfolio.

The boutique is a celebration of many firsts. It’s the first time the 2020 Pasha de Cartier was showcased in Malta in conjunction with the international launch, the first time this Cartier Interior Design Concept was used in Europe, and the first time the two prestigious watch companies have shared a boutique.

The 100-square-metre boutique was designed by Patek Philippe and Cartier architects and the furniture manufactured in Italy and France. The local project management company DPM lead by Sean Arrigo and his team designed the imposing facade and managed the works on this project.

The interior design of the shop – plush carpets, silk-embroidered wallpaper, opulent armchairs and Cartier’s largest library in a retail Espace in Europe – complement the dazzling watches and give the boutique an evidently cosmopolitan flair, while the exterior has been designed to blend in with Valletta style and pay homage to local heritage.

As the premises is one of the oldest in Valletta, Edwards Lowell decided to renovate the shop front in the same design, keeping all the original signage underneath and taking inspiration for the new design from Valletta shops of the past. The new signage and curved glass are a testament to local heritage.

Managing director, Malcolm R Lowell said:

“The Lowell family is happy to be investing in Valletta as this is where the company’s origins are rooted and where we believe the future of luxury retail in Malta lies.”

The Edwards Lowell heritage goes back almost 100 years and today showcases some of the world’s most prestigious brands in its five outlets. The launch of the Concept Store in Portomaso took place in October 2019, while the Rolex Mono-brand Boutique in Republic street Valletta opened its doors in August 2018.

“We have been striving to develop luxury retail in Malta and are excited to see this successful collaboration between two of the world’s most prestigious watch brands,” continued Mr. Lowell.
