TUDOR BLACK BAY 32, 36, 41 S&G – Elegance and versatility
The Black Bay 32, 36 and 41 S&G models bring the famous Black Bay look to a wider audience, offering elegant and versatile alternatives to women, smaller wrists, formal occasions or vintage lovers.
While these models clearly share the look and feel of the Black Bay line, they also differs in many subtle details. Their dials and sapphire crystals are both flat as opposed to the domed ones founds in the rest of the line. The black dial boasts a lacquered, glossy finish with a golden touch while the Champagne-colour dial is sun-brushed and last but not least, the bezel is fixed made of brushed yellow gold.
The gold parts on the Black Bay 32, 36, 41 S&G models have a satin-brushed or sandblasted matt finish. This effect gives an intended warm tone to the yellow gold, a distinctive vintage look and feel to the watches.
The bezel and the first centre-links of the Black Bay 32, 36, 41 S&G’s bracelet, at 12 and 6 o’clock, are made of 18k solid yellow gold. The other links as well as the crown are made using a gold-shell technique, where a piece of solid gold is folded over a core of stainless steel. Unlike gold-plating, this technique allows for multiple polishing jobs at service as the gold layer is far thicker.
TUDOR SA is a Swiss manufacturer of high-quality wristwatches based in Geneva. Registered in 1926 at the request of Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex SA, it was positioned as a more affordable alternative. Today the brand remains a sister company to the parent company, both of which are owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation. Over time Tudor watches became especially well known for its tool watches, producing watches for professional divers and the military. Between the 1960s and 1980s several navies issued Tudor Submariners to their divers, including the US Navy to its elite SEALs, and the French to their famous Marine Nationale (French Navy)
