Breitling officially opened its first flagship store on the island of Malta, in the vibrant town of Saint Julian, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of the brand’s new Retail Director.
Breitling’s retail expansion continues by landing on the island of Malta (2024). Following the recent openings of the Rome Flagship (2024), the Taormina boutique inaugurated last summer, as well as locations in Turin (2023) and Milan (2022), the new store opened its doors last September in Saint Julian, one of the island’s most dynamic cities.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the Breitling boutique kicked off a rousing event organized for this new opening, in an already eventful year for the Swiss Fine Watchmaking Manufacture, which celebrates its 140th anniversary (140 Years of Firsts) in 2024.
During the evening there were plenty of opportunities for all distinguished guests and selected press who attended the event: starting from the exhibition of eight very rare Heritage pieces from the Breitling Museum collection (which will remain on display until December 1st , passing through “B a Watchmaker” workshop with the presence of a Breitling watchmaker who involved guests in the assembly and disassembly of a Breitling movement. For the most enthusiasts it was also possible to try on their wrist the new models of the brand’s iconic collections linked to the brand’s main universes: Air, Earth and Sea.
The Breitling boutique, managed in partnership with the retailer Edwards Lowell, is situated in the heart of the city within the newly completed “Mercury Towers,” part of the St. Julian’s luxury complex designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid. Mercury House is a 33-floor luxury residential tower—the tallest in Malta—which includes the five-star ME Malta Hotel by Meliá.
The new Breitling Boutique occupies a prestigious 70-square-meters location at the entrance to the tower’s exclusive shopping and fine restaurants area. With its unique and distinctive design, the boutique is a must-see for all watch lovers starting from Breitling’s signature Watch Bar where customers can browse the collections in a relaxed setting. With its distinct industrial-loft-inspired design, the boutique reflects the modern-retrò style found in all Breitling spaces worldwide. This immersive environment offers a unique exhibition concept designed to tell the brand’s story, showcase its Heritage, and embody the values of casual, inclusive, and sustainable luxury that set Breitling apart in the world of watchmaking.
Eddie Eliakim, Managing Director of Breitling Italy, commented on the event in these words:
“We are delighted to celebrate the opening of our first boutique in Malta, in s very important year for Breitling. The last two years have been a real challenge for our retail expansion strategy and to see such a positive response tells us that we are going in the right direction.“
